Meet the 2019-2021 KCMMT Board Nominees
President: Vickie R. Tucker MT-BC
Vickie is currently employed with the Wyandotte County Special Education Cooperative where her duties include delivering music therapy services to school-aged students aged 5 to 21, and supervising music therapy interns. Ms. Tucker’s career has consisted of serving on numerous boards of non-profit organizations in the Kansas City metro area, as well as serving as a church and middle school choir director.
To date she has served as board secretary and most recently completed her 2-year tenure as president of KCMMT. It is Ms. Tucker’s desire to serve and lead the KCMMT board for another cycle. Ms. Tucker looks forward to opportunities for advocacy and for mentoring music therapy students to contribute to the growth and success of our profession.
Treasurer: Tiffany Black, MT-BC
Tiffany has had the pleasure of serving on the KCMMT board as treasurer during the 2017-2019 term. She loves organization and has helped to create a new budget and organize the financial records for easier reference in the future. She is excited for the opportunity to continue in this role in the upcoming term to continue stewarding the financial resources of KCMMT. She looks forward to finding creative ways to devote more financial resources toward improving all that KCMMT offers and to improve the ways we support our members. Tiffany works full time as a music therapist at Saint Luke’s Crittenton Children’s Center. She is married and loves to get outside to go camping, hiking and hammocking.
Secretary: Britt Slaughter, MT-BC
An alumna of UMKC, Britt Slaughter is a music therapist working with the behavioral health population. She has extensive involvement in AMTS [UMKC music therapy student chapter], having served as Secretary, Vice President, and President. Britt enjoys team environments, organizational activities, and adapting to new technologies.
Events Coordinator: Erin Keen-Majeske
Erin is from the Kansas City area and attended UMKC. She is currently an intern at Children’s Mercy Hospital, projected to complete in December. She enjoys running and participating in triathlon events, as well as singing for her Church and participating in local open-mic nights. Erin has fun planning get-togethers, and has past leadership experience as UMKC’s Triathlon Club President during her undergraduate.
