Responsibilities

ob Description:

  • Conducts group therapy using expressive therapy modalities in alignment with the Treatment Plan.
  • Assesses patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional status to determine eligibility for group treatment.
  • Provides Expressive Therapy Assessments for new patients.
  • Documents patient progress at the conclusion of each group and individual session.
  • Motivates patients to engage in Expressive Therapy and other unit activities.
  • Formulates therapeutic impressions and synthesizes information into ET Assessments according to Behavioral Health policy, Joint Commission/DNV standards, and CMS standards.
  • Documents treatment plan objectives and interventions, implements the plan, and reevaluates progress.
  • Participates in crisis intervention, individual counseling, acute care observation, and making observational rounds as part of the therapeutic team.
  • Identifies and supervises the use of materials that may pose a danger to patients at risk for self-harm.
  • Practices ethical standards of specific disciplines and demonstrates continued interest in professional development through seminars and reading professional literature.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of inpatient and intensive outpatient programs [Required]
  • Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and therapeutic approaches for appropriate interactions and interventions [Required]
  • Patient-centered approach with ability to connect with each patient [Required]
  • Awareness of therapeutic boundaries and ability to monitor transference within the therapeutic relationship [Required]
  • Computer knowledge and use of electronic medical records [Required]
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's [Required]
  • Master's [Preferred]

Field of Study:

  • Occupational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, or activity therapy

Work Experience:

  • 1+ year experience working with psychiatric, physical rehabilitation or medical patients or other position related experience [Required]

  • 2+ years of position related experience [Preferred]

Additional Information:

  • Formal de-escalation training

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) [Preferred] OR

  • Occupational Therapist (OT) [Preferred]

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]

  • NonViolent Crisis Intervention Program [Preferred]
